ABOUT
Hello!
I'm Kerry, a counselor and art therapist based in Denver, Colorado.
I received my master’s degree in 2015 from New York University after completing an inpatient psychiatry clinical internship at Bellevue Hospital. For the first 9 years my career I worked in agencies and hospitals in New York and Colorado. Most recently, I spent 3 years at the University of Colorado - Anschutz working with military veterans and first responders recovering from traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
My former clients include foster care youth and their families, survivors of sexual abuse and trafficking, the children and community healing from the Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting, and adults with severe and persistent mental illness. I started my private practice in 2023.

I grew up in a conservative area of the country and when I came out in high school in the early 2000s, I did not have any role models who were LGBTQ+. My own journey of self-acceptance helped me develop an affinity for young people who are discovering and emerging into their queer identity.
I developed an interest in the unique set of challenges faced by men when I worked as an art therapist with military veterans and first responders. I enjoy working with men who are hesitant about the idea of starting therapy and are uncomfortable being vulnerable and talking about their mental health. Art therapy presents an opportunity for my male clients to work with their hands and express themselves using a visual language. EMDR also requires less talking than most forms of therapy. Learn more about why I specialize in working with men in the FAQs.

I'm originally from the Midwest, lived in New York City for 5 years, and I've called Colorado home since 2018. Outside of work I enjoy all things art and design, commuting by bike, yoga, spending time with my partner and our two cats, and tending to an excessive number of houseplants, some of which you will meet in my office! In addition to my career as a therapist I have a background as a yoga teacher and photographer. I am warm, energetic, and deeply invested in my clients' success.
